| The
S1000D standard grew out of the
aerospace and defense industry where it was developed as a process
for managing the large amounts of complex documentation associated
with major engineering driven products such as planes, tanks and
ships. Over the lat few years the ideas and concepts of S1000D are
starting to be adopted by other industries who need to support
complex pieces of equipment or process.
S1000D is based on the concept of
small self-contained Data Modules that can be stored and controlled
in a central database then used as building blocks to deliver
information in a variety of formats.
4J's Group has been involved in
S1000D and its predecessors since its inception and would be happy
to assist you decide if S1000D is a fit for your publishing needs,
or help you with new projects that may mandate the use of
S1000D.
